YPC Chicago est. 2012
Young Peacemakers Club (YPC) originated in 1992 with an all volunteer staff and seven children in Sioux City, Iowa. Since that time, YPC's have been started all over the world by people who believe that
"each life makes a difference." The skills of peacemaking have been promoted by this global effort in such diverse settings as schools, churches, homes, community centers, and as a special focus for other existing organizations.
YPC Chicago was started in September 2012. Some of our topics include self-acceptance, conflict resolution, anger awareness and response, mindfulness, empathy and compassion. All our meetings include story time, discussions, games, crafts, open gym and a nutritious meal.
Activities are centered on the four themes of "Peace for Me, Peace for Us, Peace for Everyone, Peace for the Planet." Additional activities throughout the year may include but are not limited to community service projects, cookouts, movie nights, summer camps and retreat opportunities.
We invite youth in Cook County and surrounding areas from grades K-8 to join us anytime during the YPC year (September - June). All staff members are trained volunteer registered youth workers through the Community of Christ.
Parents/guardians will need to sign a registration permission form when their child attends. Please let us know of any food allergies.
YPC Chicago meets on Saturdays from 5:30 to 8:00pm. There is NO COST or obligations, YPC Chicago is a non denominational, nonprofit organization, all are welcome anytime throughout our year. We hope you will join us in our pursuit and promotion of peace.
